Paid Time Off

Valleywise Health provides Paid Time Off (PTO) for treatment and recovery from illness, periods of rest, relaxation and the opportunity to conduct personal business without loss of pay or benefits. All Regular Status Employees who are in a position with an FTE value of 0.5 or greater, regularly scheduled to work 20 hours per week or more, are eligible to accrue PTO.
Typical uses of PTO include but may not be limited to: vacation, sick time, school events, religious observances, family-oriented events, personal business, care of a family member, and medical appointments.
Extended Illness Bank
Valleywise Health also provides eligible employees with an Extended Illness Bank (EIB) when absence from the workplace is necessary due to extended illness or injury, or to care for an Immediate Family Member with an extended illness or injury lasting more than three consecutive days (or 24 consecutive hours, whichever is less).
Paid Sick Time
Non-Benefitted employees are not eligible to accrue PTO or EIB (unless specifically provided for in their employment agreement) but are eligible for Paid Sick Time (PST) in accordance with Arizona Law. PST is accrued based on the number of hours worked.
Non-benefitted employees will accrue one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked up to a maximum of 40 hours in any calendar year. Regular status employees are not eligible to accrue PST but may use PTO for PST.
